"ON OUR OWN"  PROJECT IDEAS

LOVE - SERVE - GIVE WEEKS are all about LOVING, SERVING AND GIVING just a little bit more than we usually do.  We are moving beyond our 4 walls to make Jesus known; letting our light shine before others, so that they may see our works ... and give God the Glory.   We have partnered with various nonprofit organizations and ministries to dedicate over 1,400 hours of service performing various tasks such as;  clearing leaves and debris from a senior citizens yard, building a shed for horses on a local farm or babysitting little ones at a homeless shelter.  Our hands, for God's Glory.  

Can't make any of our pre-arranged projects?  No problem.  We have a few ways you and your family can still LOVE, SERVE & GIVE and let your light shine throughout this city.    

DONATE A FAMILY 2 FAMILY FOOD BOX

Go shopping! The Family-2-Family Food Box provides  a box of groceries and other basic life necessities for a needy family.  This is a great project for families with younger children so they can learn the importance of giving to those who are less fortunate.  Purchase the items from the list below and place in a sturdy box.  

• 4 cans soup (any kind) 
• 1 package of dry beans
• 1 box of instant potatoes
• 2 cans canned meat (tuna, hash, etc.)
• 2 boxes mac and cheese
• 4-6 cans of vegetables
• 1 box/bag regular rice
• 1 box of elbow macaroni
• 2 box tuna noodle helper or other meals in a box
• 2 cans of fruit (low in sugar)
• 2 cans of spaghetti sauce

1 family box = 3 hours of service per individual - limited to 2 family members.

DONATE A Hygiene Kit Drive

Purchase the items below to assemble hygiene kits for homeless guests or for the men entering Memphis Union Mission’s recovery program. The kit includes five items:

• 1 regular-sized tube of toothpaste 
• 1 tooth brush
• 1 regular-sized stick of deodorant
• 2 disposable razors

Hygiene items should be assembled in large Zip-Loc bags. All 5 items = 1 kit. **The Zip-Loc is also one of the five items. 

1 hr for every kit donated.  Maximum 2 kits/2 hours.

BABY WIPE DRIVE

Grab a box of wipes and donate them to new moms who need them.

This drive will benefit the baby boutique Life Choices, Inc.  The baby boutique provides welcome baskets for new moms.  Life Choices is a safe, confidential, and FREE pregnancy help medical center offering factual information about pregnancy options through education and empowerment.  **No age restrictions.  Donated wipes must be new and 64 count or greater. 

1 boxes of baby wipes = 1 hr of service.  3 box/3 hr. max.

CLOTHING DRIVE

Bag up your gently used or new clothing to help men, women and children meet one of their basic needs. 

All donated clothing items will be disbursed to local organizations serving the needy and homeless including but not limited to; Hope House, Dorothy's Day House and others. 

Need a clothing bag? Stop by the church and grab as many as you like. Fill 'er up. 

1 large bag of clothing = 1 hr of service.  3 bags / 3 hour max.

RANDOM, BUT INTENTIONAL.

An act of service doesn’t have to be a formal event organized through an established nonprofit or church. It’s just about  loving, serving and giving above what you would normally do. Placing someone else's needs before your own.  Look around your neighborhood.  If you have an elderly neighbor with a yard filled with leaves; grab your kids, go over and rake their yard for them (for free of course).  Take some cookies and a thank-you card to your nearest fire station, police station or school office. Leave a gas gift card at a gas pump or pay it backward: buy coffee or food for the person behind you in line.
